With over six million guests a year, Oktoberfest is the largest public festival in the world. No wonder: Oktoberfest celebrates Bavarian tradition with delicious food, Munich beer and countless rides and attractions within the festival area and in tents.
You can experience highlights such as the main entrance of Oktoberfest guests and brewers, the opening ceremony with beer tapping, and the traditional costume parade that takes place on the first Sunday of Oktoberfest.
Date:
Oktoberfest is held every year from the Saturday following September 15 to the first Sunday in October. If 1 or 2 October is a Sunday, Oktoberfest extends until 3 October (a public holiday in Germany).
Opening hours:
Beer is served in the festival tents until 22:30 ("Käfer Wies'n-Schänke" and "Kufflers Weinzelt" stay open until 01:00).
The stalls and rides are open until 11:30 pm or midnight, depending on the day of the week.
The historic Oktoberfest "Oide Wiesn" is open daily until 10.30pm.
